Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report ,-'. :. .:4TAL Hr7ALTII
EMCON Associates Project: OF90-002.03 ' -`` ''f r ; L'c
• GENERAL. INFORMATION
1. Site: A. Teichert& Son Inc.
2. Address (Figure 1): 103 North E Street
City: Stockton State: California Zip:
3. Monitoring Quarter: ❑ First ❑X Second ❑ Third ❑ Fourth Year: 1993
4. Client Contact: George Takemori Telephone: 916 386-6916
5. EMCON Contact: Mark Thomas Telephone: 916 928-3300
6. tread Agency: San Joa in County Public Health Services Telephone: 209 468-3420
7. Secondary Agency: RWQCB, Central Valley Region Telephone: 916 255-3000
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Three underground storage tanks were removed in October 1986.One underground storage tank was removed in
August 1988. The tanks were not replaced.Overexcavation was completed in the vicinity of the tanks, but some impacted
soil remained. Soil vapor extraction piping was installed in the overexcavation. Ten groundwater monitoring wells(MW-1
through MW-5 and MW-9 through MW-13) have been installed to date: MW-1 was damaged and MW-2 was destroyed
during overexcavation activities, MW-3 through MW-5 were dry, and MW-9 was obstructed 32 feet below ground surface.
A soil vapor extraction test was conducted; results indicate that soil vapor extraction is feasible for soil remediation.
GROUNDWATER MONITORING DATA
1. Monitoring Date: May 10, 1993
2. Field Measurements: See attached data forms.
3. Groundwater Flow Direction (Table 1 and Figure 1): northeast 4. Hydraulic Gradient: 0.002
5. Comments: Direction of groundwater flow historically variable but predominantly northeast;prior to fourth quarter 1992
• monitoring event, direction of flow was southeast.
GROUNDWATER ANALY7"DOX"gESU '.-S
1. Groundwater Monitoring Well Sampling Frequency (by well): All wells:quarterly.
2. Analytical Results: Summarized in Table 2, certified analytical reports attached.
3. Comments: Petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations detected are similar to historic analytical results.
CONCLUSIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS/COMMENTS
Continue quarterly groundwater monitoring; design, construct, and install soil vapor extraction system.
Purge water generated during the quarterly sampling events will be transported to the Teichert facility at 8833 Kiefer
Boulevard in Sacramento. The water will be recycled in Teichert's waste water recycle system, which is used to
remove TPH and BTEX contamination from equipment rinseate. Details of the recycling system are presented in
Teichert's May 14, 1993, letter to the San Joaquin County Department of Public Health Services (County). Verbal approval
of the proposed disposal method was received on June 1, 1993,from Linda Turkatte,'a representative of the County.
LIMITATIONS
The services described in this report were performed consistent with generally accepted professional consulting
principles and practices.
