rja
ACTUAL FIELD PROJECTS . rl
y; s
Several innovative and successful bioremediation programs have been
conducted by ProTek Environmental, Inc. of Huntington Beach,
California using these Advanced Bioaugmentation Concepts.
These projects are:
A) The bioremediation of 2 , 000 cubic yards of diesel and oil
contaminated soil for the Sacramento Municipal Utilities
District (S.M.U.D. ) , which reduced the contamination levels
from 2 , 800 ppm to less than 38 ppm in approximately 74
treatment days saving the customer $360 , 000 in disposal fees.
B) The bioremediation of 1, 500 cubic yards of diesel contaminated
soil at the former Kings Truck Stop in Sacramento, California.
This project reduced the diesel and oil contamination levels
from over 3 , 000 ppm to less than 30 ppm in approximately 62
treatment days.
C) The current bioremediation of 25, 000 cubic yards of gasoline,
diesel, and form oil contaminated soil at a major fabrication
plant in South Gate, California is now being conducted and is
achieving the similar results.
To assure project control , reduced treatment times, and
predictability of results, ProTek selected a consortia of
commercially available bacteria cultures that have had a proven
track record in dealing with petroleum hydrocarbon wastes. In this
way, many of the problems and technical considerations previously
addressed were dealt with„ and ProTek was able to carefully control
the program. These selected formulations are based upon the use
of organisms known as "Bacilli” and other naturally occurring soil
bacteria which can compete favorably with the indigenous organisms
10
