'a tl
3.3.2 Monitoring Well Installation
1 The exploratory soil boring will be drilled to a depth of approximately
15 feet below first-encountered ground water and converted to a ground-
' ' water monitoring well (to be designated MW-12). The well will be con-
structed with 2-inch-diameter, flush-threaded, polyvinyl chloride well cas-
ing having a 0.020-inch machine-slotted screen. Based on information
' from the other on-site wells, this well will be approximately 80 to 85 feet
deep. Actual boring depths and screen lengths will be determined in the
' field by geologic profiles and depth of first-encountered ground water.
More detailed exploratory boring and well installation procedures are pre-
sented in Appendix B.
3.3.3 Well Development and Sampling
P P 9
Development of the new well will consist of bailing, surging with a surge
block, pumping, or a combination of these techniques. Development water
will be stored on site in labeled 55-gallon drums. Disposal of the develop-
ment and purge water will be the responsibility of Teichert; however,
EMCON Associates will work with Teichert to determine the appropriate
means of development and purge water disposal based on the analytical
results of the ground-water sample.
After well development is complete, the new well will be allowed to stabi-
lize and will then be purged and sampled. The ground-water sample will
be submitted with a chain-of-custody record to a state-certified analytical ;
' laboratory for chemical analysis. In addition to sampling the new well,
EMCON Associates will also purge and sample existing site wells that
penetrate the first-encountered water-bearing zone. Well development and
sampling procedures are presented in Appendix C.
' 3.3.4 Sample Analysis
Up to two soil samples and one ground-water sample from the new well
and existing wells that penetrate ground water will be submitted to a state-
certified laboratory for chemical analysis. The samples will be analyzed for
TPHG, TPHD, and BTEX.
3.3.5 Elevation Survey
As part of the ground-water characterization activities, EMCON Associates
will measure the elevation of the top-of-casing and the ground surface for
f
p#V92V920201 a 8 Rev. 0 June 1, 1992
Emcon Resonates
