Corporate Office
' 3500 American River Drive
P.O. Box 15002
Sacramento, Calif.95851
(916)484-3011
A.TEICHERT & SON, INC.
e Established 1887
Letter Of Acknowledgement
A. Teichert & Son, Inc (Teichert) is in agreement with EMCON's recommendations
regarding the attached workplan for 103 North E Street at Stockton. We believe the
report is accurate and that all Tri Regional Board Guidelines have been followed.
Since 1986, Teichert has expended a tremendous amount of resources to clean up the
site at 103 North E Street. In 1987, Teichert launched a huge excavation which removed
the majority of the contamination. Since that time, we have installed more monitoring
wells which have shown that their is virtually no contamination remaining. Out of 14
samples of 3 monitoring wells, 11 samples showed benzene at non-detect levels. There
has only been three samples which show very low levels of benzene. The three samples
show benzene on the order of 1 to 1.7 ppb. In our opinion, reduction of these levels
down to .5 ppb does not seem reasonable or justifiable. Since there are no nearby wells
used for drinking water, we do not feel that 1.7 ppb poses any threat to the public.
Furthermore over a period of time, these very low levels of benzene will decompose even
further.
Al Mer46rDate
Vice P Vsident Mobile Equipment Division
3 -
George zPakemori Date
Equipment Administrator
