Ira t"t**N I Z <br /> con <br /> 1433 North Market Boulevard • Sacramento California 95834 1943 • (916)928-3300 • Fax(916)928-3341 <br /> March 8, 1996 <br /> Project OF90-002 04 <br /> ow Aft <br /> Mr George Takemori RE( A <br /> M: D <br /> A Teichert & Sons, Inc MAR 9 1.9 <br /> 98 <br /> Equipment Adrrunistrator <br /> PO Box 15002 <br /> Sacramento, California 95851 PLlM f/Sr 1VIC 5 <br /> Re Fourth Quarter 1995 Status Report for A Teichert & Sons, Inc , Facility, <br /> Located at 103 North E Street, Stockton, California <br /> Dear Mr Takemori <br /> At the request of A Teichert & Sons, Inc (Teichert), EMCON is conducting an <br /> environmental investigation at the subject site (see Figure 1) We have prepared this status <br /> report on the work conducted during the fourth quarter 1995 Work included conducting <br /> groundwater monitoring and operation and maintenance of the remediation system <br /> Groundwater monitoring consists of measuring depths to groundwater, collecting <br /> groundwater samples from each well for subjective and laboratory analyses, measuring <br /> thickness of floating product (if present) in the wells, and evaluating the groundwater <br /> gradient and direction of groundwater flow beneath the site Operation ane maintenance <br /> was performed on the remediation system and consists of collecting vapor samples and <br /> evaluating performance data from the remediation system <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> Two 5,000-gallon gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs) and one 1,000-gallon waste-oil <br /> UST were removed from the Teichert equipment site in October 1986 ("Problem Assessment <br /> Report and Final Remediation Plan," EMCON, December 16, 1992) These tanks were not <br /> replaced In September 1987, overexcavation of the impacted soil near the former tank <br /> complex was completed Based on safety and sidewall stability considerations, the <br /> overexcavation was terminated at a depth of approximately 38 feet below ground surface <br /> (bgs) As a result, residual concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons remained in the soil <br /> at the north-central side of the excavation where the pump island was located, at the <br /> bottom (38 feet bgs) center of the tank excavation, and near the northwest corner of the <br /> excavation <br /> In August 1988, a 10,000-gallon-capacity regular gasoline storage tank was removed <br /> ("Problem Assessment Report and Final Remediation Plan," EMCON, December 16, 1992) <br />• Two soil samples were collected from the tank excavation for laboratory analysis One of the <br /> samples contained detectable concentrations of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes <br /> SAC1N 1PJ0\0F90V0F900020 4FS-951dms i <br />
