x <br /> gmcon <br /> 1433 North Market Boulevard • Sacramento California 95834-1943 • (916)928-3300• Fax(916)928-3341 <br /> i <br /> October 26, 1995 <br /> Project OF90-002 04 <br /> Mr George Takemon <br /> A Tetchert &Son, Inc <br /> Equipment Administrator <br /> P O Box 15002 <br /> Sacramento, California 95851 <br /> Re Third Quarter 1995 Status Report for A Teichert & Son, Inc , Facility, Located at 103 <br /> North E Street, Stockton, California <br /> Dear Mr Takemon <br /> At the request of A Tetchert & Son, Inc (Teichert), EMCON is conducting an environmental <br /> investigation at the subject site (see Figure 1) We have prepared this status report on the work <br /> conducted during the third quarter 1995 Work included conducting groundwater monitoring and <br /> operation and maintenance of the remediation system Groundwater monitoring consisted of <br /> measuring depths to groundwater, collecting groundwater samples from each well for subjective <br /> . and laboratory analyses, measuring thickness of floating product (if present) in the wells, and <br /> evaluating the groundwater gradient and direction of groundwater flow beneath the site <br /> Operation and maintenance is performed on the remediation system and consisted of collecting <br /> and evaluating performance data from the remediation system <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> Two 5,000-gallon gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs) and one 1,000-gallon waste-oil UST <br /> were removed from the Teichert equipment site in October 1986 (EMCON, Problem Assessment <br /> Report and Final Remediation Plan, December 16, 1992) These tanks were not replaced In <br /> September 1987, overexcavation of the impacted soil near the former tank complex was <br /> completed Based on safety and sidewall stability considerations, the overexcavation was <br /> terminated at a depth of approximately 38 feet below ground surface (bgs) As a result, residual <br /> concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons remained in the soil at the north-central side of the <br /> excavation where the pump island was located, at the bottom center of the tank excavation <br /> (38 feet bgs), and near the northwest corner of the excavation <br /> In August 1988, a 10,000-gallon-capacity regular gasoline storage tank was removed (EMCON, <br /> Problem Assessment Report and Final Remediation Plan, December 16, 1992) Two soil samples <br /> were collected from the tank excavation for laboratory analysis One of the samples contained <br /> detectable concentrations of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) BTEX was not <br /> . detected in the other sample, and total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG) were not detected <br /> in either sample In September 1988, the area was overexcavated Confirmation soil samples were <br /> collected from the bottom of the excavation Petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected in any of the <br /> confirmation soil samples collected dung this overexcavation activity <br /> SAC1N PJOIOF9010F900420 4DS-95 PAS <br />
