Teichert aruit
Sons Facility located at 103 North E Street, Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Knoll:
On behalf of A. Teichert and Sons, Inc. (Teichert), Stratus Environmental, Inc. (Stratus)
has prepared this report presenting results of the second quarter 2002 groundwater
monitoring event conducted at the Teichert facility located at 103 North E Street,
Stockton, California.
BACKGROUND
I
On February 24, 1986 two underground storage tanks (USTs) used to store gasoline
(Teichert tanks C-14 north and south) failed a tank tightness test. The tanks were
subsequently removed on October 20, 1986.
Kleinfelder Inc. advanced 16 soil borings (B-1 through B-16) in December 1986 and
January 1987, converting 3 of the borings to wells MW-1 through MW-3. LBME
installed monitoring wells MW-4 and MW-5 in September 1987.
Between September 15 and 18, 1987, Teichert excavated petroleum hydrocarbon
impacted soil beneath the former USTs. Soil was removed to a depth of approximately
38 feet below ground surface (bgs) in an excavation 47 feet in length by 25 feet in width.
Impacted soil was subsequently aerated onsite. Well MW-2 was damaged during the
excavation and subsequently abandoned.
One 10,000-gallon UST (Teichert tank C-12) was removed on August 11, 1988. Minor
petroleum hydrocarbon impact to soil was observed around the former UST. Petroleum
hydrocarbon impacted soil was excavated from the former UST pit on August 23, 1988.
LBME installed monitoring wells MW-9 through MW-11 in March 1990, and EMCON
installed wells MW-12 and MW-13 in August 1992. EMCON performed a vapor
extraction test on well MW-13 in October 1992. Ramos/BCR installed well MW-14, and
P:\Teichert\Stockton-103\Quartcrly\2002\teichei-t-2QO2.doe
