San Joaquin
County PHS/EHD Site Code #1397
Dear Mr . Infurna:
I am writing to advise that Mr . Gerald Sperry , Attorney for
the Pestana Trust (owners of the subject property) , has
authorized EPM Technologies, Inc . of Modesto to perform the
sampling, analyses , and document preparation necessary to
comply with your request for submission of a Quarterly
Monitoring Report for the subject site as indicated in your
letter of June 18 , 1993 . I will contact you by telephone
during the first week of August to schedule sampling of the
existing groundwater monitoring wells at a time convenient
to your schedule.
Unfortunately , I am unaware of any sampling being performed
during the first quarter of 1993 , and we will be unable to
submit a monitoring report for that period.
Your June letter also indicates that it is necessary to
define the zero lines of soil and groundwater contamination
through the installation of additional monitoring wells . I
have discussed this with Mr . Sperry. Mr . Sperry suggested
that appropriate EPM staff request a meeting with you to
provide more detail regarding SUTRA in the hope that you
will agree that SUTRA is one of a number of models that can
accurately define plumes as it also uses physical data .
However, rather than seeking to convince you of this fact
"in the abstract" , may I suggest that PHS/EHD allow EPM to
prepare and submit the model . I believe that you will be
pleased with the quality of data developed, however if you
do find it lacking, we could then proceed with the
installation of additional groundwater monitoring wells .
Thank you for your consideration in this matter . If you
have any questions , or if I may otherwise be of assistance
