Soil vapor samples are to be collected from five feet
below the surface and analyzed on site in a mobile laboratory for total petroleum hydrocarbons as
gasoline (TPHg), benzene, toluene, ethyl-benzene, and xylene (BTEX), and naphthalene by EPA
Method 8260.
The plan is adequate and necessary and approved. [Health & Safety Code (H&S) Section
25296.10(c)(3)]. Please submit a Well Permit Application Form and $404 fee immediately.
Included in the work plan was an explanation for vertical delineation that was required by the EHD.
The EHD has evaluated this explanation and agrees that the vertical extent of contamination may be
adequately addressed but requests that a technical demonstration be submitted to the EHD that
convincingly shows that the contamination on the north margin of the site is actually associated with
the pipeline as alleged. The EHD feels that more evidnece is needed than just the pipeline's proximity.
If you have any questions, please contact Michael Infurna at(209)468-3454.
i
Michael J.
