A product sheen was also noted in the groundwater visible in the bottom of tank pit
I (TPI).
ra After the removal of the USTs, RESNA collected a total of eleven soil samples. Analysis of
soil samples collected after tank removal indicated groundwater and soil petroleum hydrocarbon
w impact. Petreleurn hydrocarbons as benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX) and
total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline and diesel(TPHGID)were detected in concentrations
t above method reporting limits in the gasolinefdiesel tank pit(TPl)and in product line samples.
Metals,BTEX and TPHD constituents were detected above method reporting limits in the waste
r= p'tank
oil it
('I'P2). Lead was detected in selected samples in tank pit l (TPI)and product line
samples but was not detected in the groundwater in concentrations above State Maximum
"a Coptaminant Levels (MCLS) for drinking water.
tr -
# µ Elevated levels of BTEX, TPHG,and TPHD were recorded in the groundwater sample collected
from the bottom of tank pit I (RETPI-B-9.5'). Total lead (TL) was not detected above State
Maximum Contamination Levels (MCL's) for drinking water. Table 1 summarizes analysis of
soil samples. Analytical results for the water samples are included in Table 3. Based on this
evidence an assessment of the extent of soil and groundwater contamination was indicated.
a 3.4 HYDROLOGY/GEOLOGY
The site is located on level terrain underlain by flood plain deposits of Pleistocene and Holoceae
s age that are composed of sediments similar to and probably conformable on underlying deposits
of alluvium and Tulare formation. The flood plain deposits are light to dark brown and grey
clay, silty sand, and organic materials with locally high concentrations of salt and alkali. Stream
r _
channel deposits of sand and gravel are also included.
---
-----------
——- i- ---Groundwat it within this zone occurs-less char,ten-feet below grade over most oVthe`Tracy area.
1' Regional groundwater gradient is to the north The flood plain deposits of the shallow water
A 0[2792.LP
L€ ,
-
- ,fir
