Quarterly Summary Report <br /> J for <br /> The Pestana Trust Property <br /> 2360 East Street, Tracy, CA <br /> SITE DESCRIPTION AND HISTORY <br /> The site, presently unused, is that formerly occupied by <br /> (Dick) Reeve ' s Exxon Station- a 15 , 900 square foot , <br /> rectangular parcel located at the northwest corner of a <br /> moderate size, retail shopping center at East Street and <br /> Grant Line Road, in the City of Tracy ( San Joaquin County) , <br /> California The facility was operated as a retail service <br /> station from the early 1950s through 1991 Both gasoline <br /> and diesel fuel were sold The building that housed the <br /> station office and service bays at the site remains , but is <br /> vacant The parcel is presently surrounded by 6-foot high <br /> cyclone security fencing <br /> Land use in the area surrounding the site is of a mixed <br /> commercial , residential , and light-industrial nature <br /> In its September, 1991 preliminary assessment of soil and <br /> groundwater contamination at the site, WaterWork Corp of <br /> Escalon reported that extra unleaded gasoline, regular <br /> unleaded gasoline , and diesel fuel were each being <br /> dispensed from its own 5 , 500 gallon capacity underground <br /> storage tank These tanks were located dust northeast of <br /> the station office A 350 gallon underground waste oil <br /> storage tank was also present This tank was located <br /> behind (to the east of ) the office <br /> During December of 1990 , the station ' s underground fuel <br /> storage tank systems were precision tested The extra <br /> unleaded tank failed its test , and during January , 1991 , <br /> the tanks and product lines were retested using helium gas <br /> During the test , the extra unleaded tank developed a leak <br /> and an estimated 300 gallons of product was released into <br /> the fuel tank pit The leak was reported to the San <br /> Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health <br /> Division (PHS/EHD) and the tank was emptied of all <br /> remaining product on the same day On April 11 and 12 , <br /> 1991 , all on-site underground storage tanks and product <br /> lines were removed During the removal , WaterWork staff <br /> noted the presence of moderate product odor near the tank <br /> Pit , staining near the fill -end of the diesel fuel tank and <br /> In the product line trenches , as well as product sheen on <br /> the groundwater standing in the bottom of the tank pit <br /> l� <br /> Page 1 <br />
