3) Preliminary calculations for the groundwater
treatment system demonstrate a radius of capture
well beyond the location proposed for the
additional borings making any data acquired
attendant to placement of these borings transient
in nature .
Quarterly Compliance Monitoring of the On-Site Wells
Sampling of the three on-site, 4-inch inside-diameter
groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 , MW-2 , and MW-3 ) was
performed on March 10-11 , 1994 with the approval of Mr.
Michael Infurna of San Joaquin County Public Health
Services , Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) .
Depth to water and total depth of each of the wells were
measured using an electric tape and the volume of water
within each well casing was computed. Each well was then
purged using clean, disposable, polyethylene bailers until
the groundwater was free of significant sand, silt , and/or
other grit , and temperature, pH, and electrical f
conductivity readings stabilized. In this case, over three
well volumes of water were removed from each well .
Measurements acquired attendant to sampling appear on the
well monitoring forms enclosed in Appendix A.
Subsequent to the purging of each well , a groundwater
sample was collected in a clean, disposable polyethylene
bailer . Each sample was transferred into one-liter amber
glass sample bottles and Volatile Organic Analysis (VOA)
vials containing sufficient hydrochloric acid preservative
to reduce the pH of the sample to less than 2 .0 . Each
sample container was promptly fitted with a teflon-lined
screw cap, labeled, placed on ice, and transported under
chain of custody to Priority Environmental Labs of
Milpitas . Analyses were subsequently performed for Total
Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Diesel (TPH-D) , Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbons as Gasoline (TPH-G) , benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) using EPA Methods
3510/8015 and EPA Methods 5030/8015-8020 ( 602) .
Copies of the results of certified analyses as received
from JL Analytical Services are enclosed within Appendix A.
These results and those from the August , 1993 and December,
1993 quarterly samplings are summarized in Table 3 :
Page 6
