ATC Associates Inc.
NkTc 1117 Lone eAvenue, Suite 201
Modesto, California 95351
209-579-2221
ASSOCIATES INC .
Fax: 209-579-2225
August 20, 2012
54.62514.0001
Mr. Harlin Knoll
Mr. Nuel Henderson
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
1868 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
Subject: Groundwater Remediation Implementation at the King Island Resort,
11530 West Eight Mile Road, Stockton, California. Site Code: 1557
Dear Messrs. Knoll and Henderson:
In regard to our recent conversations concerning implementation of ozone injection remediation and
periodic groundwater monitoring at the site, ATC Associates Inc. (ATC) proposes the following
groundwater monitoring and sampling schedule with respect to petroleum hydrocarbon constituents.
ATC anticipates the Regional Water Quality Control Board may have certain monitoring and sampling
requirements with regard to potential formation of undesirable byproducts resulting from the ozone
injection process :
• Monitoring wells MW1 , MW2, MW3, and MW9 through MW13 are to be sampled and
analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPHg), methyl tertiary butyl
ether (MTBE), and tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA) annually with the next sampling event to be
conducted in 2012, probably late in the third quarter.
• Monitoring well M W 14 will be sampled and analyzed for MTBE and TBA semi-annually with
the next sampling event to be conducted in 2012, probably late in the third quarter, and
biennially for TPHg with the next sampling event to be conducted in 2012, probably late in the
third quarter.
• Monitoring wells MW4R, MW5, MW6, and MW7, and the domestic wells at the resort and
trailer park will be sampled and analyzed for TPHg, MTBE, and TBA semi-annually with the
next sampling event to be conducted in 2012, probably late in the third quarter.
Please issue a letter addressing the proposed monitoring schedule, and any other concerns you may
deem appropriate with respect to the pending implementation of groundwater remediation at the site
via ozone injection. ATC anticipates injection ozone sequentially into groundwater via the three
injection wells (IW 1 , IW2, and IW3) installed on the levee.
1 ATC Associates Inc.
