The purpose of the <br /> subsurface investigation is to attempt to identify the source and define the vertical and berizontal <br /> extent of the impacted groundwater discovered by SECOR International Corporation (SECOR) <br /> and documented in their "Technical Report Soil and Groundwater Investigetion." dated April 12, <br /> 1996. This work being done at the direction of San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD). The proposed scope of work includes obtaining <br /> permits, advancing up to ten soil borings, soil and groundwater sampling, laboratory analysis of <br /> selected soil and groundwater samples, and preparir_g a summary report. The scope o£ work is <br /> described in detail in the fallowing paragraphs. <br /> SITE LOCATION <br /> The site is located north of Disappointment Slough and east of Honker Cut, in Stockton, <br /> California, as shown on Figure I - The location is a small commercial area surrounded by <br /> agriculture in all directions. The site is currently occupied by King Island Resort. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The King Island property previously contained three underground storage tanks (USTs), two of <br /> which remain in use, and are used to fuel boats. The tanks consisted of one 6,000-gallon regular, <br /> one 2,000-gallon regular, and one 4,000-gallon diesel tank.
