Mike Infurna [EH]
From : Mike Infuma [EH]
Sent: Monday, November 03, 2003 9:29 AM
To : 'APATTON@cwp.swrcb. ca.gov'
Subject: King Island Resort, Stockton
Please consider this a formal request to add this site to the 'high' priority MtBE list.
MtBE @ 140, 000 ug/I in MW-7 that is just 260' away from one of the 3 domestic wells close to this site. MW-7 MtBE
concentrations have been increasing since this monitoring well was installed in Spring '01 . 1 have issued directives to
define the lateral and vertical extents and I suggested strongly that a sentinel monitoring well be installed between the
MtBE plume and the inlet depth of the domestic well . Two monitoring wells are between the high MtBE "MW-7" and this
cross-gradient domestic well. The plume MtBE concentration decreases in these two monitoring wells as it encroaches on
the dom well. MtBE @ 1 , 300 ug/I in one and 42 ug/I in the closest monitoring well, just 125' from the dom well. A work
plan to conduct further work has just been approved by EHD. I'm urging the consultant to get going on this site. I'm hoping
that the high priority CUF review, pre-approval, and reimbursement will 'encourage' the RP to move quickly also.
The site's CUF claim # is 0003668. Westrec Marinas, w/ Mr. James Mills, is the RP.
The dom well has been sampled for petroleum and is non-detect at this time. EHD considers this well endangered .
This site is in the Delta and NO public/municipal water supply is available, and an impact to the dom well will mean
alternative drinking water supply is needed. There are two other domestic wells within 2000' of the site and further away
than the endangered dom well. An adjacent trailer community also has its own dom well and we are gaining access to
sample it now.
This is my second request ever, and first for this site to get on this list. .
Is there some procedural method you'd like to see followed for other sites that may qualify?
What information do you need to approve this sort of thing?
let me know please.
thank you.
c
f
f
r
'r
'r
f
M 1
