The following reports were reviewed:
7 February 2006 Quarterly Report— Fourth Quarter 2005 and Annual Report
2005 (Annual Report)
20 April 2006 Quarterly Report— First Quarter 2006 (First QMR)
31 July 2006 Quarterly Report— Second Quarter 2006 (Second QMR)
The Annual Report presents groundwater monitoring and remediation status data collected
during the fourth quarter 2005 and incorporates data from the first through third quarters of
2005. The First QMR and Second QMR present groundwater monitoring and remediation
status data for the first two quarters of 2006. The Second QMR also includes acute and
chronic bioassay test results.
During the past three quarters, Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd), Total
Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), and xylene concentrations have steadily
increased in well MW-4 reaching 17,000 micrograms per liter (Ng/L), 3,000 pg/L, and 763 pg/L,
respectively, in the second quarter 2006. Well MW-4 MTBE concentrations have declined
during the same period and the compound was not detected at this well in the second quarter
2006. Well MW-4 is completed in shallow groundwater and located about 100 feet upgradient
of extraction well EW-1.
The groundwater pump-and-treat system was operated during each quarter extracting
groundwater from well EW-1 at an average flow of approximately 0.5 gallon per minute (gpm).
TPHd, TPHg, and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) were not detected in
the influent during the past three quarters. Methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) influent
concentrations show an overall decreasing trend during the last three quarters and the
compound was not detected in June 2006. In the Second QMR, Advanced states that MTBE
California Environmental Protection Agency
Ps Recycled Paper
