Interim Remediation Work Plan - September 2003 <br /> HERMAN AND HELEN'S MARINA <br /> 15135 Eight Mile Road, Stockton, California <br /> 1.0. INTRODUCTION <br /> At the request of Andrew Smith of Herman and Helen's Marina,Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc. <br /> (AGE)has prepared this work plan for interim ground water remediation at 15135 Eight Mile Road, <br /> Stockton,California.The scope ofwork includes installation of an interim ground water`pump-and- <br /> treat' remediation system at the site. The location of the site is illustrated on Figure 1. A plan of the <br /> site is illustrated on Figure 2. <br /> In a letter dated 11 August 2003,the California Regional Water Quality Control Board(CRWQCB), <br /> requested the preparation of a work plan for installation of interim ground water remediation <br /> utilizing a`pump-and-treat'technology in the area of the highest methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE) <br /> contamination. The purpose of this work plan is to detail the design, installation and operation of a <br /> ground water `pump-and-treat' system utilizing granulated activated charcoal (GAC) and MTBE- <br /> hydroscopic synthesized filter media(Sunsolve©). <br /> 2.0. BACKGROUND <br /> The site is located immediately south of the Little Connection slough, San Joaquin County, <br /> California,at the end of Eight Mile Road and it is presently occupied by Herman and Helens Marina, <br /> a marina and boat fueling station. Improvements to the property include a floating office and <br /> mooring docks, a ramp from the levee to the docks, large asphalt parking lot and two above ground <br /> storage tanks (AST). Additional site background information can be found in Appendix A. <br /> 3.0. SCOPE OF WORK <br /> Based on the ground water aquifer pumping test results found in the AGE-prepared Ground Water <br /> Extraction Feasibility Test Report dated 24 July 2003,AGE proposes to install,operate and maintain <br /> an interim ground water pump-and-treat remediation system utilizing existing ground water <br /> extraction well EW-1. <br /> Interim remediation field activities will consist of the following tasks: <br /> • Permitting and pre-field work activities; <br /> • Installation of underground remediation piping system; <br /> • Installation of ground water pump-and-treat system; <br /> • Interim remediation start-up period; <br /> Advanced GwEnvironmental,Inc. <br />
