APPENDIX B
MONITORING AND SAMPLING PROCEDURES
H & H Marina
15135 West Eight Mile Road, Stockton, California
MONITORING AND SAMPLING PROGRAM
The H & H Marina site consists of 13 ground water monitoring wells, one ground water
extraction well and two surface water sampling points. The Regional Board issued
Monitoring and Reporting Program (MRP) No. R5-2009-0833 on 24 August 2009, which
replaced MRP No. R5-2004-0828.
Sampling Frequency:
Quarterly: Wells MW-2, MW-4, MW-5 and EW-1; surface sampling points DDN and DDS.
Semi-annually: Wells MW-2, MW-4, MW-5, MW-14 and EW-1; surface sampling points
DDN and DDS.
Annually: Wells MW-2 through MW-14; surface sampling points DDN and DDS.
Analysis:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with
EPA Method 8015 Modified and
• BTEX and the fuel additives methyl tertiary-butyl ether(MTBE), tertiary-amyl methyl
ether(TAME),tertiary-butyl alcohol(TBA)and 1,2-dichloroethane(1,2-DCA) by EPA
Method 8260B.
Note: Analysis for 1,2-DCA is not required for R5-2009-0833, but is included for other
technical reasons.
WELL EVACUATION
Subsequent to measurement of depth to water and prior to sampling, each well is purged
to ensure samples are representative of the formation, rather than standing water in the
well casing. Wells are purged using either disposable plastic bailers or a Waterra inertia
pump with dedicated polyethylene %-inch plastic tubing.
Wells are purged until: 1) a minimum of three casing-water volumes is removed from the
well; and/or 2) the field-measured ground water parameters, pH, temperature and
conductivity, are stabilized. However, if a well is purged dry prior to evacuating three casing
volumes, a sample is collected following 80 percent recovery of ground water within the
well, or after a minimum of 1 hour, but within 8 hours, of well evacuation.
Advanced CcoEovironmcntal,Inc.
