1
06 February 2004
AGE-NC Project No 01-0865
hydrocarbon-impact to ground water prior to feasibility testing of additional remedial options and
implementation of a full-scale remediation system
26 Anticipated Length Of Time
Pump-and-treat systems are effective in areas of shallow groundwater impacted by MTBE,however,
due to vertical and Iateral heterogeneous soil types and the apparent depth of contaminant-impacted
ground water, additional remedial options still need to be evaluated, either as alternatives or as
supplements to the pump and treat method AGE anticipates a clean.-up period of between 36 and
48 months
3.0. RECEIVING WATER
In accordance with Section C of Attachment A from General Order 5-00-119, AGE has evaluated
the below-mentioned receiving water characteristics
3 1 Description Of The Receiving Waters
The FLIM ground water source removal extraction system will discharge treated ground water into
the agriculture drainage ditch owned by Speckman Empire Tract PTP The flow in this drainage
ditch is variable, dependent on surface drainage ofboth agricultural and surface water discharge from
storm water
The agricultural drainage ditch intersects the east-west trending island drainage canal immediately
south of the site The water discharge from the HHM will not further degrade the ambient water
quality of the this canal, which is already impacted, based on occasional detection of petroleum
hydrocarbon-contaminated water The quality of the water discharged from HHM will be within the
discharge requirements of the discharge permit, venfied by analytical testing of the water chscharge,
to quantify any excursions beyond target limits set within the permit The quantity of water discharge
will be insignificant compared to the peak-flow season (October through April)
Water in the island drainage canal is pumped up into the Little Connection Slough via a pumping
station located on the levee, at the western terminus of the channel (Figure 2) The water within the
Little Connection Slough supports a local floral and fauna, and is utilized for recreational purposes
•
Advanced GcoEnvironmental,Inc
