06 March 2002
AGE-NC Project No 01-0865
at depths between 44 feet and 50 feet bsg, were impacted by TPH-g in borings B 1, B3, B4,
B6, B7, B8,B9 and B 10 With the exception of the sample collected from first encountered
ground water in boring B9, the concentrations of TPH-g detected are low Geologic
cross-sections illustrating the vertical distribution of petroleum hydrocarbons are presented
in Figures 3 and 4
• Ground water samples collected from first encountered ground water were impacted by
MTBE in borings B1, B4, B7 and B9 Samples collected from deep ground water at depths
between 44 feet and 50 feet bsg, were impacted by MTBE in borings B1, B6, B8 and B9
Geologic cross-sections illustrating the vertical distribution of dissolved MTBE are presented
in Figures 3 and 4 Isocontour maps illustrating the approximate areal distribution of
dissolved MTBE are presented in Figures 5 and 6
• The western, eastern and southern margins of the MTBE-impacted first encountered ground
water has been defined The lateral extent has not been defined to the east, north or
northwest The The southeastern and southern margins of MTBE-impacted deep ground
water has been defined The vertical extent of MTBE-impacted ground water has not been
defined
• Taken as a whole, the available data suggests to AGE that the dissolved contaminant
distribution encountered at the Herman & Helen's Marina site can be very reasonably
interpreted to represent a partitioned plume originating from the former UST area and that
the current AST system may not have contributed significantly to the plume
7.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon data collected from the site,AGE recommends additional assessment of the lateral and
vertical extent of impacted ground water on the site
8.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based mainly
upon analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the geologic/
hydrogeologic conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are made from a limited
number of available data points (i e grab ground water samples and soil samples) and subsurface
conditions may vary away from these data points No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made
as to the professional interpretations, opinions or recommendations contained in this report
