Soil and Ground Water Investigation Report <br /> HERMAN & HELEN'S MARINA <br /> 15135 Eight Mile Road, Stockton, California <br /> 10. INTRODUCTION <br /> In accordance with the request of Mr Andrew Smith of Herman & Helen's Manna, Advanced <br /> GeoEnvironmental, Inc (AGE) has prepared this Soil and Ground Water Investigation Report for <br /> 15135 Eight Mile Road, Stockton, California The scope of work included advancement often soil <br /> probe borings and the collection and analysis of soil and ground water samples <br /> Currently, two 12,000-gallon above ground storage tanks are in use at the site One tank contains <br /> gasoline, the second is compartmentalized into one 5,000-gallon gasoline tank, one 3,000-gallon <br /> gasoline tank, one 3,000-gallon diesel tank and one 1,000-gallon oil tank The tanks are connected <br /> to dispensers by piping contained in a concrete-lined trench The site and the surrounding area are <br /> illustrated in Figure 1 Structures and monitoring well and sampling locations are illustrated on <br /> Figure 2 <br /> 20. BACKGROUND <br /> . On 30 October 1991,three underground storage tanks(USTs)were removed from the site by Warren <br /> E Gomes Excavating, Inc Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel(TPH-g <br /> and TPH-d) and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) were detected in soil <br /> samples collected from the UST excavation at depths between 9 feet and 12 feet below surface grade <br /> (bsg) Additional information can be found in the Condor Earth Technologies, Inc <br /> (Condor)-prepared Tank Pull Testing Results,dated 18 November 1991 Based on the contamination <br /> detected in the soil samples collected during the UST removals the San Joaquin County Public <br /> Health Services - Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) directed the investigation of the <br /> TPH-g and TPH-d contaminated soil A brief description of previous investigations at the site are <br /> as follows <br /> • On 22 August 1995, three hydropunch soil borings (HP-1, HP-2 and HP-3) were advanced <br /> at the site TPH-g and BTEX were detected in soil and ground water samples collected from <br /> each boring <br /> • On 29 August 1996, five probe borings were advanced at the site TPH-g, BTEX and <br /> methyl-tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) were detected in the soil and ground water samples <br /> collected from the borings advanced in the northern portion of the site <br /> • On 10 September 1997, four ground water monitoring wells (MW-1, MW-2, MW-3 and <br /> MW-4) were installed at the site to investigate and monitor the lateral extent of impacted <br /> ground water TPH-g, BTEX, and MTBE were detected in the soil samples from borings <br /> MW-2 and MW-4 TPH-g, BTEX, MTBE, tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME) and tertiary <br /> butanol (TBA) were detected in the ground water samples collected from the wells on 18 <br />
