' REPORT
SOIL AND GROUNDWATER INVESTIGATION
' AUGUST, 1996
Herman & Helen's Marina
' Venice Island Ferry
Stockton, California 95219
' September 30, 1996
1
1.0 INTRODUCTION
On August 29, 1996, Condor Earth Technologies, Inc. (Condor) conducted a soil and
groundwater investigation at Herman & Helen's Marina located at Venice Island Ferry, Stockton,
California (Figure 1, Appendix A). The investigation was conducted in accordance with the work
' plan titled "Soil and Groundwater Sampling by Direct Push (Geoprobe)" prepared by Condor, dated
May 20, 1996. The work plan was approved by the San Joaquin County Public Health
Services/Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) and the local Reclamation District #2029.
The purpose of the work was to investigate the extent of gasoline and diesel contamination
tassociated with underground storage tanks (USTs) formerly located at the site (Figure 2, Appendix A,
Site Map). The investigation included the placement of five (5) direct push sampling points around
the former location of the USTs. Soil and groundwater samples were collected during the investigation.
This report includes a discussion of the site background and a description of the fieldwork and
' laboratory analyses conducted during the investigation. Conclusions and recommendations are
presented in Sections 4.0 and 5.0 of this report. This report was prepared by Condor at the request of
' Mr. David Smith, President, Herman and Helen's Marina.
' 2.0 SITE BACKGROUND
The subject site is located on Eight Mile Road, at Venice Island Ferry, approximately 5 miles
northwest of Stockton, California, (Figures 1 and 2, Appendix A). On October 30, 1991, Warren E.
Gomes Excavating, Inc., of Rio Vista, California, excavated and removed three (3) USTs (TKI, TK2,
' and TK3) from the site. The USTs contained gasoline and diesel fuel. A Condor representative was
on site during the UST removal to collect soil samples. The field activities were observed by Carol
Oz of the PHS/EHD. A small hole was found on the lower exterior of TK3 (diesel tank). Petroleum
La CONDOR
