These gentleman were familiar with the
subject pipeline and have an extensive file. Please refer to the attached letter dated April 24,
1990 regarding requirements for closure of the pipeline. Mr. Knoll indicates he has been in
contact with Jim Gorley, your Stockton Environmental Manager. Most recently, Mr. Knoll
corresponded to Mr. Gorley in February concerning various testing and subsequent reporting
to be prepared before the County approves the closure. It appears there is much to be
accomplished prior to the City abandoning the Franchise Agreement. I will contact Mr. Gorley
to find out the present status and try to determine where we are at in this process.
Please call me at (209) 937-8628, if you have any questions.
STEVE PINKERTON, DIRECTOR
-/U Ladaa-
MIKE WALLACE
REAL PROPERTY AGENT
REDEVELOPMENT DIVISION
MW:mw
Attachment
cc: Harlan Knoll, San Joaquin Public Health
Jim Gorley, Union Pacific Railroad
Barbara Anderson, Deputy City Attorney (ref. memo dated November 28, 1995)
Sharon Racho, City Manager's Office
"STOCKTON...CALIFORNIA'S SUNRISE SEAPORT" ®
