The'purposes of the. waste characterization are to: 1) classify-the excavated soil waste as either hazardous or nonhazardous-:`!`fi i waste; and:z) if the soil is,determined to be nonhazzardous, evaluate the waste for acceptance by Allied Waste disposal facility (formerly Forward landffil) in Stockton, California, a Class 11 nonhazaidouswaste disposal facility. ' SCOPE OF WOR ' We understand that potentially up to 4,040 cubic yards of soil would be excavated throughout :. the entire site, except.far the parking lotsupported by.the wood pilings since,the Stockton , Channel is beneath this portion of the parking lot: Based on information provided by Steuart' , Olsen of Turner Construction,soil excavation depths will vary throughout the site In general, , x soil from the northwest portion of the site (west of the former Shell Station and betwoenc Channel Street and the Stockton Channel) would be'excavated to six feet below ground ` 'surface.(bgs).
