E <br /> All sample containers will be placed in a strong-outside shipping container(a steel-belted cooler). <br /> The following outlines the packaging procedures that will be followed for low concentration <br /> samples. <br /> 1. Blue ice, free from any leaks. When ice is used, pack it in zip-locked, double plastic bags. <br /> Seal the drain plug of the cooler with fiberglass tape to prevent melting ice from leaking <br /> out of the cooler. <br /> 2. Line the bottom of the cooler with bubble wrap to prevent breakage during shipment. <br /> 3. Check screw caps for tightness. <br /> E <br /> 4. Secure bottle/container tops with clear tape. <br /> 5. Affix sample labels onto the containers with clear tape. <br /> G. Wrap all glass sample containers in bubble wrap to prevent breakage. <br /> All samples will be placed in coolers with the appropriate chain-of-custody forms. All forms will <br /> be enclosed in a large plastic bag and affixed to the underside of the cooler lid. Empty space <br /> in the cooler will be filled with bubble wrap or styrofoam peanuts to prevent movement and <br /> breakage.during shipment. Each ice chest will be securely taped shut with strapping tape, and <br /> ((-�+ custody seals will be affixed to the front, right, and back of each cooler. <br /> The EPA Region IX Regional Sample Control Center (RSCC: 415-744-1498) will be notified <br /> daily of the sample shipment schedule (Friday shipments must be reported no later than noon) <br /> and will be provided with the following information: <br /> • Sampling contractor's name <br /> • Name and location of the site <br /> • Case or Regional Analytical Program (RAP) number <br /> • Total number(s) by concentration (low) and matrix of samples shipped to each <br /> laboratory <br /> • Carrier, air bill number(s), method of shipment (priority next day, or courier) <br /> • Shipment date and when it should be received by lab <br /> • Irregularities or anticipated problems associated with the samples <br /> • Whether additional samples will be shipped-or if this is the last shipment. <br /> r <br /> 8.5 Photographs . <br /> Photographs will be taken at all sample locations and at other areas of interest on site. <br /> They serve to verify information entered in the field logbook.
