'
...DOM
r.r`..
Ms. Mary Meays  c
September 29, 1995 (9347-3011) I
Confirmation Soil Borings Workplan
Fugro proposes to advance five confirmation soil borings using the GeoProbe® system
in the areas of investigation shown on Figure 8. The GeoProbe® employs a mobile
hydraulically-driven soil sample collection system'which advances 1-114-inch-diameter push rods
to a desired depth. An undisturbed soil sample is then collected using a 1-1/16-inch-diameter
split spoon. This process generates minor soil cuttings which will be temporarily stored onsite
on and under plastic sheeting pending waste characterization. The following is a detailed scope
of work:
E
1) Advance one boring south of MW-1 and CB9.
2) Advance one boring south of the concrete,,!pad near the location of CB8.
3) Advance one boring northwest of MW-2.
4) Advance one boring west-southwest of RW-2.
k'
5) Advance one boring southwest of RW-1.
6) Collect soil samples at a minimum`of five-foot intervals, at changes in lithology, at
indications of petroleum hydrocarbons in the soil, or if water-bearing soils are
encountered. Soil samples will be field screened with a photo-ionization detector.
7) Submit a maximum of two soil samples collected from each boring to a state-certified
analytical laboratory and analyze for. TPH=G by modified EPA Method 8015 [practical
quantitation limit (PQL) = 1.0 ppm] and benzene, toluene, ethyl-benzene, and total
xylenes by EPA Method 8020 (PQL = 0.005 ppm).
8) Submit a technical report summarizing the` investigation findings and results.
i
The borings will be terminated at approxim tely 29 feet below grade or when the capillary
fringe is encountered. The fieldwork will be performed after agency approval and appropriate
permits have been obtained. A results report will!"be submitted within 60 days of receipt of the
laboratory analytical results.
{
i{
u-. 93473611.ARP -7
