In this system, the rings and samplers
were scrubbed with a brush .in a bicket of tap water and detergents
rinsed in a second bucket cf tap water and given a final
rinse in
distilled water.
4.4 Vadose and Monitoi:ing hell Installation
Three soil borings were drilled to an approximate depth of 30 feet
below grade in the visiniLy of the former storage tank pit and
canvezted to vapor extraction wells with the installation of 4 inch
diameter PVC screen and casing. Vapor extraction well construction
r` details are shown in Figure 6. A vapor extraction feasibility teat
was conducted on April 27 and 26, 1991 to determine the possibility
of vapor extraction as a remediation option for the vadose zone at
r the site. Results of this vapor extraction test are present_a- in
Appendix II.
Barings MW-4 and MSI-5 were advanced 15 feet beyond static groundwater
anti converted to monitoring wells by the instal3ation of 20 feet of
slotted screen with casing to the surface. Bath wells were f
cunatructpd of 2-inch diameter, flush-threaded, schedule 40 PVC
- screen and casing (Figure 7) . Both wells were completed at grade in
. water-tight, street-rated well protectors with water-tight locking b
caps for security purposes.
'. Following. installation, each groundwater well was developed using a
r pneumatic pump, Development water was containerized in DOT approved
drums and stared on site Pe laboratory analyses. The top, north
common datum for
situ of the casing was surveyed relative to a
determining groundwateb gradient information. Surveying was
- performed under the direct supervision of a California Registered
Civil Engineer.
ti
Malar PoLrt Property - 415 - : 5
