j Clayton
ENVIRONMENTAL
CONSULTANTS
Fate of Monitoring Well
Installed for Groundwater Sampling
at Mvi
222 North El Dorado Street
in APR g
Stockton, California hNViRdNMENTAL H " TII
- RVIC['S
1.0 INTRODUCTION
American Savings Bank retained Clayton Environmental Consultants, Inc. to install .
and sample a monitoring well at its property located at.222 North"El Dorado Street
in Stockton, California. This work is being done after a Phase I environmental
assessment conducted by Clayton revealed that there was a car repair shop with
documented environmental-problems within 200 feet upgradient to crossgradient of
the subject site.
2.0 PROCEDURES
The objective of this work will be to determine whether the groundwater beneath {
the site is contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons that have migrated from the
car repair shop. We will install one groundwater monitoring well to obtain soil
samples and a groundwater sample.
If the laboratory results indicate that the groundwater has been impacted with
hydrocarbons, and they are present above their action levels, more work will be done
to characterize the site-and the well will be left in place.
If the laboratory results show hydrocarbons at low levels and below action levels, the
well will be left in place for groundwater monitoring until it is no longer deemed
necessary or further site characterization is-required. If the groundwater sample
from the monitoring well is below detection limits for the constituents for which it is
analyzed, or after it is no longer needed for groundwater monitoring, the well will be
properly abandoned.
If the well will be abandoned, it will be done by following these steps:
1. The well will be overdrilled with a larger auger than used to install the
original borehole for the well.
' - I
2, The casing will be removed through the center of the auger.
i
3. The borehole will be backfilled with a neat cement slurry.
4. The top foot of the borehole will be capped with concrete.
The necessary permits will be obtained before any additional wells are installed or
the existing well is abandoned. j
i
i
