Wendy Cohen
Page 2
March 31, 1997
WORKPLAN 222 NORTH EL DORADO STREET
OBJECTIVE
The objective of this investigation is to determine the extent of hydrocarbon impact in the
basement of the 222 North El Dorado Street property in Stockton,California. The assessment
wily consist of subsurface sampling in the basement of the building where varying levels of
hydrocarbons(specifically weathered gasoline)were previously detected. The workplan also
includes thenstallation-of one groundwater monitoring well in the northeastern portion of
the property, down gradient of the hydrocarbon detections in the soils which were:detected
in the basement of the structure.
SCOPE OF WORK
Site Safety and Health Plan
Prior to subsurface testing, as required by law, a Site Safety and Health Plan(SSHP)will be
prepared in order to insure that all workers and sub-contractors are aware of the risks and
safety procedures relative to the Phase II testing. A copy of the SSHP is attached to this
work plan.
Underground Service Alert
Additionally, as required by law, Underground Service Alert (USA) will be contacted to
check the proposed probe locations and well locations for conflict with public utilities, such
as gas or electrical lines..
Analytical Testing(Soil)
We propose placing five geoprobes to depths of approximately 15 feet below ground surface
(bgs)in the basement to fully define the horizontal and vertical extent of impact. During the
probing and monitoring well installation, samples will be collected every five feet. Select
samples will be analyzed for Total Petroleum.Hydrocarbons (TPH) by EPA Modified
Method 8015 as Motor Oil, Diesel and Gasoline, and for Benzene,;Toluene, Ethyl benzene,
and Xylene (BTEX) by EPA method;8020. Samples will be field screened using a Photo
Ionization Detector(PID).
Analytical Testing(Groundwater) .
A monitoring well will be installed east of the detections of weathered gasoline. This will
place the monitoring well in the northeast corner of the property. Samples will be collected
