(AGE),and a fax of the 3^'
quarter 2004 analytical results" Different concentrations of dissolved contaminants including Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbons as gasoline(IPH-g),certain aromatic hydrocarbons(benzene,ethyl-benzene,and xylenes),and
oxygenate compounds such as Methyl Tert Butyl Ether(MTBE)and Di-isopropyl Ether(RIPE),have
continued to be'detected in the groundwater samples collected on site. Toluene and Tertiary Butanol(TBA)
were not detected(ND)in 2111 and 31'quarters 2004 but have been reported in previous sampling events. XX5th
the exception of monitoring well\•1\V-1B (screened from 25 to 45 feet bsg),contaminants were reported in the
remaining 5 dual-completed monitoring wells: MW-1A (screened from 60 to 65 feet below surface grade
(bsg))which is located closest to the former dispenser,\I\V-2A (screened from 60 to 65 feet bsg)and 7.\iW2B
(screened from 25 to 45 feet bsg)located closest to the former underground storage tanks(UST),and\IW-3A
(screened from 60 to 65 feet bsg)and\f\V-3B(screened from 20 to 40 feet bsg)located furthest downgradient I
(north-easterly to easterly)from the former USTs and dispensers. The highest contaminant concentration were
3,200 micrograms per liter(ug/1)of TPH-g and 2,100 ug/l of benzene in\1W-1A in 3rd quarter 2004"
An investigation using cone penetration technology(CPT) conducted in November 2002 indicated the
dissolved contaminants are present in the deeper water-bearing zones. Analytical results of the deepest grab
groundwater samples collected from CPT-3 at depths of 112 to 118 feet bsg were 1,400 ug/I of TPH-g and 370
ug/I of Benzene,and at depths of 121 to 125 feet bsg were 140 ug/l of TPH-g and 3.7 ug/1 of Benzene.
The lateral and vertical extent of the contamination has not been defined. Submit a work plan to investigate and
define the extent of the contamination at this site to EHD by\'larch 15,2005. You.-are also required to perform a
survey of well receptors within 2,000 radial feet of the site. The survey should include the addresses of any wells
located,a map showing the locationof any wells, and any construction details of the wells. Contact the_
Department of Water Resources and local water purveyors for well locations. Submit this survey to EHD by
March 31,2005.
Please feel free to contact Jeffrey Wong at.(209)468-0335 if you have any questions.
Donna Heran,REHS,Director
Environmental Health Department
Jeffrey Wong,Senior REHS Marggorio,REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
Cc: CRWQCB,Central Palley Region—James L.L.Barton,RG
Cc: Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.—Eyrene L.
