KnolllSTCPHS
PW 3
QST proposes to drill two soil borings and called soil and groundwater samples for laboratory
analysis. The soope of wo&for the sdditi<mal site assessn=t is divided into four tasks described
below. All work wM be peaformed under the supervision of a California R,eestmed Geologist. .
Field equipment and proceduros are described in Appendix A.
TASK 1. S=PEHEAR&UQN
QST personnel will.mark the drilling Locations-and Underground Service Alert will determine;if
the locafions are clear of subsurface utility lines and equt nest. Since both of the proposed soil
borings are located in the public right-of--way, city appwval must be granted. Mmcrcachment
pmi is will be obtained from the City of SWckfion and boring permits Bono.the SJCPHS. Baring
locations are contingent upon the City of Stockton, the S,ICPSS approval and the location of
utility lines. If boring locations are acceptable, traffic control will be used daring drilling and i
sampling activities. In:additino, QST has pMared a site-spec health&salty plan fort use 4
during field activities. The health and safety plan is in Appendix B.
TAM 2_ DRTT i NG AND St)II.SAMP UNG
The proposed soil boring locations are shown Ton Figure 2. The location of.the borings were d
selected based on previous investigations. 'The boring locations are cmdngent upon to location
of utility litres.
The borings will be drilled to approximately .35 feet_below ground surface, which is the
appmadmately 5 feat below the depth of groundwater(bused on groundwater data collected from
a nemby site). Dw*drilling, sail samples will be collected at qWmcimme 5-foot intervals for
g®db*desc14m, organic vapor monitoring and chemical analysis. After drilling 5 feet bolo IVVW
groundwater and collecting soil samples, a I inch PVC pipe with a 5 foot slotted section at the a
bottom of the pipe will be temporarily inserted into the sail. -The groundwater:sample will be
c olledrd from a Teflon or stainless steel bailer, lowered through Ow PVC pipe. Tte soil cuttin
will be stoned on site in drums for later disposal by others. VIP&O 4
TASK 3_ TABORATMY ANALYSIS-. %JUG #
The soil and groundwater samples will be submiWd to a statc certified analytical.Laboratory in
accrndanm with local, state and federal raWkements. Based on field observadoits, select samples
trill pie analyzed for Tm usieg U.S. r n ir+anrnmrtal Prosection Agency MPA).luletbod 80151
modified for volatile hydmcat ms and for B= and MTBE using BPA Method 8020. In g
addition, for possible fi*=use in a health risk assessment, a wketod soil sample will be analyzed a
for bulk density, total organic carbon.,porosity, hydraulic conductiAty and percent-moisture...
d
