iFIRESTONE TIRE AND RUBBER COMPANYFri'a FE rjft <br /> STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA rm <br /> iSITE ASSESSMENT AND REMEDIATION WORKPLAN AUG 16 1991 <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH <br /> i PERMIT/SERVICES <br /> On April 25, 1991, 12 tanks were removed from the Firestone <br /> i facility located at 400 N E1 Dorado St, Stockton, California <br /> (See Figure 1) Two permits, tank closure and fire department, <br /> were issued by the Public Health Services, San Joaquin County <br /> (PHS) , and the Stockton Fire Department, respectively, to Ryan <br /> iMurphy, Inc prior to the tank removals <br /> The site has been used as a gas and oil station dating back to <br /> i the 1920 ' s and 30 ' s Recently, it had been used as a Firestone <br /> retail tire and automotive store <br /> Tank 4 was previously closed in-place with tanks 1, 2 , and 3 <br /> i under a permit issued to Firestone in 1967 However, in this <br /> current tank work, Tank 4 was removed with Tank 5 since both <br /> tanks were located within two feet of each other and it was <br /> i easier to remove both tanks than leave one in place No soil <br /> samples were taken from the tank 4 location because of its <br /> previous closed status The determination to not take a somal <br /> i sample was confirmed by a PHS representative on-site during the <br /> tank removal work <br /> All the tanks were steel and coated with a black paint-like <br /> i material Although, the tanks had scaling and corrosion/oxidized <br /> surfaces, no obvious holes were noted on any of the tanks <br /> i Table 1 summarizes relevant tank and soil sampling information. <br /> Figure 2 indicates the location of the tanks at the site and the <br /> location of the soil samples retrieved for laboratory analysis . <br /> One soil sample was taken from the center of each lube owl tank <br /> i (Tanks 8 thru 15 ) and from the eastern end of Tank 5 A somal <br /> sample was taken at each end of the Tank 6 and Tank 16 locations. <br /> iTable 1 <br /> Tank/Soil Sampling Information <br /> iTank Tank Tank Contents Tank Invert, Soil Sample, No of <br /> No Size, Feet below Feet below Soil <br /> Gallons Grade Grade Samples <br /> i4 & 5 550 Waste Oil (WO) 8 25 11 0 1 <br /> 6 1000 Gasoline (Gas) 7 83 11 0 2 <br /> i 8 thru 65 Lube Oil 6 0 8 5 1 ea <br /> 15 <br /> 16 1000 WO/GAS 7 0 10-10 5 2 <br /> I <br /> i <br />
