1 <br /> GRIIN <br />' 2.3 Field Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Procedures <br />' Procedures are described below for preserving and transporting soil and groundwater <br /> samples, decontaminating field equipment, managing wastes generated, and documenting <br />' the field program <br />' 2.3.1 Preservation and Delivery of Samples <br /> Chemical preservatives necessary for the groundwater samples will be provided by the <br />' analytical laboratory The soil and groundwater samples will be stored on ice in the field <br /> and transported in a portable ice chest to the analytical laboratory The samples will be <br /> shipped to the analytical laboratory by courier or overnight mail within 24 hours of <br /> sample collection <br /> 1 <br /> 2.3.2 Chain-of-Custody Records <br />�i <br /> Cham-of-custody records will be completed before packaging the samples for shipment <br /> One copy of these records will be placed in the project file The second copy will <br /> accompany the samples during transportation to the laboratory The person in the <br />' analytical laboratory who accepts responsibility for the samples will sign and date the <br /> original chain-of-custody form A sample chain-of-custody form is provided in <br />' Appendix B <br /> 2.3.3 Equipment Decontamination Procedures <br /> Soil and groundwater sampling equipment will be decontaminated between sampling <br /> events using the following procedures <br />' 1 Rinse with water using a brush to remove soil and mud <br /> 2 Wash with non-phosphate detergent and water using a brush <br /> i 3 Rinse with deionized water <br />' 5\BFS\5TOCKTON\WKP003 DOC 03/22/01 2-5 <br />
