I <br /> 1 <br /> • <br />' 4.0 GENERAL HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS <br /> This section presents general health and safety requirements for the site, including <br /> personnel training, medical surveillance, and site safety meetings These health and safety <br /> requirements are required for all personnel who may be exposed to contaminated soil <br /> and/or groundwater Potential exposure may occur while groundwater sampling and/or <br /> monitoring, and drilling and soil sampling <br /> 4.1 Personnel Training <br /> All site personnel who may be exposed to contaminated soil and/or groundwater must be <br />' trained in accordance with the standards set forth in Title 29 of the Code of Federal <br /> Regulations, Section 1910 120 (29 CFR 1910 120), enforced by the Occupational Safety <br />' and Health Administration (OSHA) <br />� . At a minimum, personnel must be trained to recognize the onsite hazards and must be <br /> aware of the provisions of this HSP <br />' 4.1.1 Preassignment Training <br /> Before mobilization to the site, each employer must certify that field personnel meet the <br /> requirements of preassignment training Consistent with 29 CFR 1910 120(e)(3), each <br />' employer must be able to provide a document certifying dates of 40 hours of training, a <br /> minimum of 3 days of actual field experience under the direction of a skilled supervisor, <br /> and 8 hours of annual refresher training, as appropriate <br /> 4.1.2 Supervisor Training <br /> In accordance with 29 CFR 1910 120(e)(4), individuals designated as site supervisors <br /> require an additional 8 hours of training These personnel include the site HSO, project <br /> manager, and field supervisor <br /> S\BFS\STOCKTON\HSP0011 10/15/99 4-1 <br />
