The
facility is located at 400 N. E1 Dorado, Stockton, California, The
purpose of this work is to determine if vacuum extraction is a
reasonable technology to remediate hydrocarbons in soils.
History and Backaround
IUntil 1990, the Firestone site was used as a retail tire and
automotive store. In the 1920's and 30's it had been used as a gas
and oil station. Four underground tanks, located in the sidewalk
I on N. EI Dorado St. , were cloned in-place under a permit issued in
1967. In April, 1991, 12 additional underground tanks associated
with the facility were removed by Ryan-Murphy, Inc. Results of the
work are documented in reports submitted to the Public Health
Services (PHS), San Joaquin County.
All of the soils surrounding the tanks which were removed in April,
1991, have been determined to meet regulatory limits except for
those in the immediate vicinity of tank site 5. This tank site is
located in the sidewalk on N. El Dorado Street. Past soil sample
results taken from; the tank excavation, over-excavation of the tank
hole, and soil borings advanced in the immediate vicinity of tank
site 5 are summarized in Table 1.
Ryan-Murphy Incorporated
'The Good Earth Company"
