Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201 I
Re: SiMUgn Service Station Equipment Co. v. Stockton Plating
San Joaquin County Superior.Court Action No. 249694
Dear Mr. Knoll:
As you may be aware, our office represents Stockton Service Station Equipment
Company in connection with an action. brought by them, arising out-of A tank rupture that
occurred at Stockton Plating in 1990. Although Stockton Service anticipates exoneration in
connection with this lawsuit, it is clearly in the interest of all involved to minimize cleanup
expenses.
k
I enclose for your consideration, in the event it.has not yet come to your attention, an
article recently published by Livermore Laboratories, indicating that remediation of groundwater
itself is not a cost effective measure and should be discouraged. Frankly, I do not know the
latitude that the County has in defining remediation parameters, but if this report is taken at face
value, it would appear appropriate -to simply remediate the soil, and allow the natural
remediation process to handle the water situation. I would appreciate your advice as to whether
or not, in the context of current scientific studies, the County would consider a remediation
,
