These waste streams are profiled for fuel <br /> blending. <br /> In addition to normal HHW safety precautions,the following precautions must be taken when pouring <br /> any flammable liquids: <br /> • Each drum must be grounded individually. <br /> • The funnel, if used, must be grounded to the drum. <br /> • Each metal container that is being poured must be grounded to the drum and funnel. <br /> • The funnel, if used, must be made of steel. <br /> • Only Non-Sparking tools will be used in the bulking room. <br /> • A fire extinguisher must be readily available. <br /> The following protocol shall apply at all times while bulking flammable liquids: <br /> • During flammable bulking operations, safety goggles and face shield or full face air purifying <br /> respirator,nitrile gloves,Tyvek with booties(hood and apron recommended but optional),and <br /> steel toed shoes must be worn at all times. <br /> • No smoking, flames, or ignition sources of any sort are allowed in the paint collection and <br /> bulking areas. <br /> • During the daily safety debriefing, safety equipment and supplies will be issued to each person <br /> working in the paint collection and bulking areas. Additional equipment will be supplied <br /> during the day or on an as needed basis. All equipment will be issued from the Stericycle <br /> safety equipment area. No unauthorized persons will be allowed inside the safety equipment <br /> area without permission from Stericycle personnel issuing safety equipment. <br /> • All spent safety equipment must be disposed in a designated bin in the paint operations area. <br /> No used Tyveks, aprons, gloves, etc. will be allowed outside the latex or flammable <br /> collection/bulking areas. <br /> • If an employee is injured or needs medical attention of any sort, he/she should immediately <br /> report to a supervisor in the area. The supervisor will escort the individual to the on-site first <br /> aid center. <br /> • All safety equipment worn by facility staff will be removed prior to breaks and lunch. A wash- <br /> up area shall be provided and is located next to the safety shower. <br /> Per California Code of Regulations,Title 22, Section 66730,personnel participating in bulk operations <br /> shall follow the procedures described below: <br /> • Each container shall be emptied as described above(no removable residue remains). <br /> • Each container(5 gallons or less in capacity), if California empty,can be disposed of at a solid <br /> waste landfill,upon approval by the landfill. Containers larger than 5 gallons must be recycled <br /> or sent off-site for disposal as a waste. <br /> Page 19 of 41 <br />
