• 6 June 1995 <br /> AGE-NC-95-0142 <br /> Page 2 of 4 <br /> Soil samples will be collected from three of the probings at 5-foot intervals, beginning at a depth of <br /> 10 feet bsg These samples will be field screened for organic vapors Selected soil samples will be <br /> analyzed by a State-certified laboratory <br /> Nine additional probirigs will be advanced to perform a soil vapor survey of the site Vapor samples <br /> will be collected from each of the probings at 10-foot intervals <br /> 4.0. PROCEDURES <br /> 4 1 COLLECTION OF SOIL SAMPLES <br /> For the collection of soil samples, the following procedures will be performed <br /> 1) Notify the San Joaquin County Environmental Public Health Services - Environmental Health <br /> Division (PHSIEHD) 48 hours prior to commencement of any work , <br /> • 2) Install three probings, using yan-mounted, 1125-inch diameter probe rods to depths of <br /> approximately 40 feet The boring locations are depicted on Figure 2 <br /> 3) Decontaminate sampling equipment in an alconox solution and,rinse twice with water prior <br /> to each sampling run <br /> 4) Obtain discrete soil samples at five-foot intervals, starting at 10 feet, using Geoprobe soil <br /> sampler assembly loaded with pre-cleaned 1125-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves <br /> 5) Preserve soil in the lead brass sleeve by covering both ends with aluminum foil, capping, and <br /> sealing with tape <br /> 6) Store the samples under ice and transport the samples in a chilled container to a State certified <br /> ` laboratory for analysis <br /> 7) Screen soil sample duplicates for the presence of volatile orgamcs using a photo-ionization <br /> detector (PID) pre-calibrated to isobutylene <br /> 8) Log bonngs in accordance with the`Unified Soil Classification System <br /> 9) Selected soil samples will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH as gasoline), <br /> . volatile aromatics(BTE&X), tetraethyl lead and total lead in accordance with the appropriate <br /> EPA methods <br />
