' Stockton Plating Inc.
Soil & Groundwater Investigation
April 19, 1994
Page - 5 -
4.0 FIELD INVESTIGATION
4.1 Drilling
! On February 9t' and 101, 1994, three ( 3) monitor wells were
' installed at SPI (Figure 2) . Prior to the field work, monitor
well construction permits were obtained from SJCEHD. The monitor
' wells were installed by Spectrum Exploration, Inc . , of Stockton,
California, (C57 license #512268) under the supervision of a
Condor geologist. Harlin Knoll of SJCEHD was on site
' periodically to observe the drilling.
' The well borings were drilled with 10-inch Q.D. hollow-stem,
continuous-flight augers . The augers were steam cleaned prior to
drilling each well. The steam-cleaning effluent was collected in
55-gallon drums, sealed, labeled and left on site. Soil samples
Iwere collected with a California-modified, split-spoon sampler
fitted with three (3) clean brass liners . During sampling, the
split-spoon was driven ahead of the auger. The bottom most liner
was prepared for shipment to the laboratory and the uppermost
liner was discarded. The remaining liner was used for geologic
logging and for field screening.
IThe 3 monitor wells were drilled to o total depth of
' approximately 60 feet below ground surface. Soil samples were
collected at 5-foot intervals from the ground surface to a depth
of 60 feet in MWl and a depth of 45 feet in MW2 and MW3 . The
CONDOR
