a., Ms Lon Duncan <br /> May 20, 1999 <br /> Page 2 of 6 <br /> 1.3 -Resources <br /> Sean Garvey, a Ground Zero geologist, directed field work on January 19, 1999 Fisch <br /> Environmental (Fisch), a State licensed drilling company (G-57-683685), performed drilling <br /> services McCampbell Analytical Laboratories, Inc (McCampbell), a State certified hazardous <br /> waste testing laboratory(FLAP#1282), completed the laboratory analyses for all samples <br /> 2.0 BACKGROUND INFORMATION <br /> 2.1 Site Description <br /> The site previously operated as an automotive sales and service center and utilized one 250- <br /> gallon UST for storage of waste oil The UST was removed under permit from PHS/EHD on <br /> March 26, 1997 A soil sample collected from beneath the tank contained elevated levels of <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons, lead, and chlorinated solvents Analytical results are summarized in <br /> Table I Groundwater beneath the site was expected to be encountered at approximately 25 to <br /> 30 feet below ground surface (bgs), based on historical information available from the San <br /> Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District <br /> 2.2 Investigations Undertaken <br /> • Based on the background information provided to Ground Zero, three soil bonngs were advanced <br /> at the site to investigate the lateral and vertical extent of residual soil contamination, and the <br /> potential impact to groundwater Boring SBI was located approximately 15 feet northwest of the <br /> former UST, boring SB2 was located approximately 20 feet southwest of the former UST, and <br /> boring SB3 was located in the center of the former UST excavation A fourth boring proposed in <br /> the workplan co ld not be advanced because of slower than expected dnlling caused by very stiff <br /> soil conditions <br /> The former UST was located approximately 100 feet south of the Park Street entrance and <br /> approximately 53 feet west of the entrance to the alley that borders the east side of the building <br /> Soil boring locations are shown on Figure 2 <br /> 3.0 INVESTIGATIVE PROCEDURES <br /> On January 19, 1999, Sean Garvey of Ground Zero arrived at the site to supervise the subsurface <br /> investigation in the vicinity of the former UST Ms Lon Duncan and Mr Jeffery Wong of San <br /> Joaquin County PHS/EHD conducted separate site inspections to observe field activities <br /> Fisch advanced the bonngs render the supervision of field geologist Sean Garvey, and project <br /> manager John Lane, a California Registered Geologist Borings SB I and SB2 were advanced to a <br /> depth of approximately 31 feet below ground surface (bgs), and boring SB3 was advanced to <br /> approximately 36 feet bgs Fisch utilized a truck mounted Geoprobe 5400 direct push ng to <br /> groundzelgabbard`sunupt doe <br />
