The combination of these two analyses suffices
to provide a preliminary determination of hydrocarbon
contamination from gasoline or diesel fuels. The test methods
used were Modified EPA Method 602/8020 and EPA SW846 Method 8015
Modified; both by GC-FID. The chemical analysis results are
presented in the following Table:
I Soils Analysis
(Results given in ppm)
' Constituent: Sample_Designation
(Action Level) #1 @ #2 @ #3 @ p4 @ #5 @ #6 @
Detection Limit 1-1/21 5-1/2 10-1/21 15 ' 2_0-1/2 25-1/2 '
rTotal Petroleum
Hydrocarbons (TPH) ND 4 ND ND ND ND
( 10 ppm)
' [1 ppm]
Benzene ND ND ND ND ND ND
(any)
[0:02 Ppm]
Toluene ND ND BMDL ND ND ND
(0.1 Ppm)
[0.05 ppm]
' Xylene ND ND BMDL ND NO ND
(0.02)
[0.05 ppm]
IEthyl-benzene ND ND ND ND ND ND
(0.68 ppm)
[0.05 Ppm]
ND = None Detected
BMDL = Below Minimum Detection Limit
Action levels are those defined by the California Department of
I Health Services for water (1987) . Soil levels are generally site
specific but are equal to or greater than water levels. There has
not been established an action level of Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbons in water or soil. BSK considers 10 ppm the limit
when groundwater is less than 50 feet from ground surface.
I
BSI<.
.Accn[-i.1E•c
