The tank was monitored using an ORS Environmental Equipment Interface Probe.
Approximately 1.3 feet of water and separate-phase hydrocarbons floating on top of sediments were
detected in the tank. The depth from surface grade to the top of the sediments was measured to be
t approximately 3.6 feet. Based on the approximate depth to the bottom, the tank appears to be 550-
gallons in volume.
At the request of Chevron, seven samples of the waterlseparate-phase hydrocarbons were collected
from the tar*k by Groundwater Technology on October 29, 1991. The samples were submitted to a
California-cerbTied laboratory to be analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes(BTEX),
total petroleum, hydrocarbons(MM-as-gasolineand TPH-as-dieselby U.S.EPA Methods 8020 and
8015,o':.and greasy by EPA Method 5520,purgeable organics by EPA Method 8240,extractable
organics by EPA Method 8270,cadmium,chromium, lead, zinc, and nickel by EPA SW-846 Method
+. 6010,ignitability by SY1-7.1.2,pH by EPA Method 9045,reactive cyanide by SW-7.3.3.2,and react;ve
sulfide by SW-7.3.4-L.
