Typically a
i _
groundwater investigation includes the installation of at least 3
monitor walls at the site to investigate the horizontal limitz of
r soil and groundwater contamination. The elevation of the well
collars are surveyed and depth to water measurements are ta;:e;i to
detexzine the groundwater flow direction. The disadvantage of
_ this option is that the source of the green petroleum stained
soil encountered fror a depth of 25 feet down to 50 feet has not
E been identified. It is likely that the groundwater flow
directiolx.-' as varied much over the past several decades. A
groundwater investigation would be premature at this stage.
J !
' 5.3 Recommendations
Condor recommends that the site be re-excavated to remove as
much of the gasoline contaminated soil as possible. Based upon
J the above information this appears to be the most feasible and
productive remedial option.
` Condor further recommends that a thorough site history
J ,
investigation be conducted. The layer of petroleum stained soil
 f. 1 encountered from approximately 25 feet down to 50 feet appears to
have come from a source other than the gasoline tanks
^ located directly above. .
