Typically a
= e groundwater investigation includes the installation of at least 3
monitor wells at the site to investigate the horizontal, limits of
soil and
groundwater contamination. The elevation of the well
collars are surveyed and depth to water measurements are taken to
deter-wine the groundwater flow direction. The disadvantage of E
this option is that the source of the green petroleum stained
ros
w soil encountered from a depth of 25 feet down to ,o feet has not
kM been identified. It is likely that the groundwater flow
direction has varied much over the past several decades. A
r
groundwater investigation would be premature at this stage.
5.3 Reccmnendations
Candor recommends that the site be re-excavated to remove a
- s
much of the gasoline contaminated soll as possible. Based upon
the above information this a
ppears to be the most feasible and
productive remedial option.
Condor further recommends that a thorough site history
investigation be conducted. The layer of petroleum stained soil
encountered from approximately 25 feet down to So feet appears to
have come from a source other than the gasoline tanks
located directly above. A records search should be conducted at
T — ---
the Stani
slaus County Environmental Health Department to
investigate the possibly of additional sources or areas of
N4
CONDOR
