CLOSURE REQUEST 5-31-94 <br /> with TSP. <br /> • O Samples are collected in 211 X 6" brass sleeves that have <br /> been pre-cleaned according to EPA protocol . <br /> o A WEGE geologist prepares a boring log to document the soil <br /> samples collected at each interval . <br /> o Samples are field checked with a portable PID that is <br /> calibrated daily. <br /> o Samples are preserved by covering the sleeve ends with <br /> aluminum foil or teflon wrap and plastic caps, securing the <br /> caps with plastic tape, placing the secured sleeve in a <br /> ziplock bag, and storing the sample on ice at 40C. <br /> o Samples are labeled with site name, station, depth, date, <br /> time, sampler' s initials, and analysis to be run <br /> o Samples are recorded on a chain--of--custody form and signed- <br /> over with the accompanying chain-of-custody documentation to <br /> a certified analytical laboratory. <br /> Collection of Water Samples <br /> o Depth to water is measured prior to sampling with a product <br /> interface probe <br /> o Wells are purged prior to sampling until water quality <br /> parameters (pH, temperature, and conductivity) stabilize. <br /> o Water samples are collected with the use of clean <br /> polyethylene bailers . <br /> o Water samples are decanted into appropriate containers which <br /> have been pre-cleaned following EPA protocols and supplied <br /> by a certified analytical laboratory or a chemical supply <br /> house <br /> o Samples are labeled with site name, station, date, time, <br /> initials of sampler, and analysis to be run. <br /> o Sample containers are placed in ziplock bags and preserved <br /> on ice at 40C <br /> o Samples are recorded on a chain-of-custody form and signed- <br /> over with the accompanying chain-of-custody documentation to <br /> a certified analytical laboratory <br /> In addition, WEGE employs the following procedures to ensure <br /> quality control of soil and water sample results from the <br /> analytical laboratory <br /> o Periodic replicate soil and ground water samples are taken <br /> to measure analytical precision. <br /> o Trip blanks prepared by the laboratory are composed of <br /> distilled water accompany samples from the field to the <br /> laboratory to determine if contamination of samples has <br /> occurred. <br /> Chemtech (MATRIX) Environmental Laboratories Inc, Eureka <br /> Laboratories, Inc Superior Precision Analytical, Inc . , and <br /> American Environmental Network, Inc follow DHS and EPA method <br /> Protocols which includes the running of method blanks and spike <br /> recoveries <br /> • <br /> pagel2 <br /> I <br />
