R604 UPDATE 19 5-19-1993
February, 1992 . Only trace amounts of fecal coliform have been
. occasionally detected in any of the wells during those 3 months,
see Table 2 .
RECOMMENDATIONS
1 Recommend this site for evaluation of closure, see
Closure Evaluation Work Plan, UPDATE STATUS REPORT #15 .
2 Continue vapor recovery on MW5 and the newly installed
vadose wells VSB3 , VSB5, VSB9 and VS211
3 Continue to monitor this site on a quarterly basis
4 Obtain depth to ground water and vacuum influence
readings to evaluate the effects of vapor recovery
5 . Perform monthly monitoring and sampling of the vapor
stream using the WEGE portable lab FID-GC &
confirmation for benzene and toluene with the PTD 10 S
50 chromatograph and include the results in a monthly
update status report .
6 . Schedule and drill a confirmation soil sample boring
west of SB9 to verify the removal of gasoline range
hydrocarbons from the soil via vapor extraction.
7 . If field screening indicates that the soil produced
from the confirmation sample boring is free of gasoline
range hydrocarbons, obtain permits to destroy the
existing vapor recovery wells and selected ground water
monitoring wells that may interfere with the future
plans for this site .
8 If field screening indicates that the soil produced
from the confirmation boring contains gasoline range
hydocarbons, convert this boring into a vapor recovery
well and continue the vapor recovery process at this
site
HEALTH AND SAFETY
This site has been classified as Class D personal protection
Hard hats, gloves, steel toed boots and ear protection are
required to be worn In the event that field screening indicates
that volatile organic compounds (VOC' s) exists at the site, all
personnel shall wear appropriate half face cartridge respirator
with the black organic compound cartridges and particle filters .
All personnel must carry their identification card showing that
they are current with OSHA/SARA training
page 7
