B \WOA LAN DOC
hole is performed by lowering a hand sampler/driver that contains
one 2" x 6" sterile brass sleeve and driving into the undisturbed
soil after the versadrili has been removed The sampling will
occure in 5 foot intervals starting at the 20 foot depth from
surface (5 feet below the excavation surface). The Vereadrilled
hole(s) can be utilized for the placement of vapor efficient
extraction wells due to the large surface area the boring
Produces, see Figures 6
WlreICAL AND LATERAL EXTWU ON SITE AVAY FROM THE HKC&YATION
The lateral and vertical extent of the contamination associated
with the underground tanks and product dispensing system will be
assessed using a truck mounted MOBILE DRILL B-40. The drilling
will utlize 8" hollow stem augers; sample intervals will be every
5 feet using a California split spoon Sampling will commence at
the 15 foot depth around the tank excavation and 5 foot depth
around the product dispensing areas, see Figure 6.
PRODUCT LIMB TWWCHBS
To economically determine the vertical extern of petroleum
contamination associated with the product lines, a 4" diameter
hand auger with sampler and driver will be utilized, see Figure 6
The holes will be hand angered in five foot intervals, the auger
then will be withdrawn and a sample barrel that contains one 2"x6"
sterile brass sleeve will be placed at the base of the hole and
hand driven to obtain a sleeved sample for certified laboratory
analysis. These sample will be preserved, chain of custody hand
delivered and analyzed as described earlier in the INTRODUCTION.
SAMPLES
All samples will be collected. labeled preserved and chain of
custody delivered using EPA and LUST protocol. Soil samples will
be screened, using a PID analyzer calibrated to a 25 ppm gasoline
vapor standard, prior to sealing the sample. Soil samples will be
classified using the ASTM D 2488-84 (the Unified Soil
Classification System)
The soil samples recovered from the borings will be analyzed using
EPA methods 5030 for extraction and 8015-TPH and 8020-BTEX
HEALTH AND SAFETY
The borings will be continuously monitored v ch a LEL/02 meter and
the site rersodically monitored with a hang held PID meter. All
personnel involved with this site have a current OSHA-SARA
Certificate of Training, see Appendix D-Health and Safety Plan
The site. until found otherwise, is being treated as class D
i
