well construction.
Monitor well MW-6 is to be completed in the planter at the
northwest corner of the site. This well is to be a temporary well
to help document ground water gradient and to establish whether or
not the former Chevron Station northwest, or the Unocal Station
north, across Harding Way are influencing the ground water beneath
this site.
This well will be drilled vertically with a" hollow stem augers
and constructed of 2" Sch 40F480 PVC pipe. The screened interval
(0.010" machine slotted) will be from 60' to 30' below the
surface. The sand pack ( #2/12 clean monterey sand) will be from
total depth (60' below surface) to 15' below the surface. A V
thick hydrated bentonite seal will be placed over the sand pack
( from 15' to 131 depth) , with neat cement/5% bentonite from the
131 depth to surface as the sanitary seal. A lockable 2" well cap
will be placed on the top of the casing to prevent access to the
well.
WELL CUTTINGS, RINSEATE AND PURGED GROUND WATER HANDLING
All cuttings produced from the boring of the wells will be placed
with the contaminated excavated soil that is stored and covered on
the site. All rinseate water from steam cleaning of drilling,
sampling and well materials will be collected in a polyethylene
tub and transferred to 55 gallon drums, labeled and stored on site
. until the results of samples taken from the drums analysis
indicate how the fluids should be handled and disposed of.
SAMPLES
All samples will be collected, labeled, preserved and chain of
custody delivered usi..Lg EPA and LUST protocol. Soil samples will
be screened, using a PI_' analyzer calibrated to a 25 ppm gasoline
vapor standard, prior to sealing the sample. Soil samples will be
classified using the ASTM D 2488-84 (the Unified Soil
Classification System) .
All samples will be obtained by a qualified geologist working
directly under the supervision of California Registered Geologist
#3037. The samples will be collected, preserved, labeled and
chain of custody hand delivered to ChemTech Analytical
Laboratories, 3017 Kilgore Road #110, Ranchc Cordova, CA 95742
(916--635-3962) . ChemTech is a State of California certified lab
(#359) . All soil samples obtained from borings and/or excavations
will be analyzed using the following EPA and DOHS methods: 5030
for extraction, 8015-TPH, and 8020-BTEX. Initial sampling shows
that TEL and EDB does not exist at this site these analyses will
not be carried on.
MONITOR WELL DRILLING AND CONSTRUCTION
Each well will tie drillid with a truck-mounted drilling rig using
t•
