The
purpose of this work was to define the vertical extent of gasoline hydrocarbons in soil and
groundwater at the subject site by installing and sampling four Geoprobe borings (GP-1
through GP-4).
SITE BACKGROUND
The site is located on the northeast corner of Harding Way and El Dorado Street in Stockton,
California. The site is a former Unocal service station that retailed gasoline and diesel fuel.
On April 7, 1999, three USTs were removed from the site during UST divestment activities.
The tanks were 10,000-gallon capacity with two containing gasoline and one containing
diesel. The USTs were removed by.John's Excavating of Santa Rosa, California. The UST
excavation was approximately 35 feet by 40 feet by 15 feet deep. Six soil samples were
collected from beneath the removed USTs on April 7, 1999. The excavation was deepened
beneath the center of the western tank to approximately 18 feet below ground surface (bgs)
and one additional soil sample was collected to confirm that petroleum hydrocarbon impacted
soil was removed. All soil sample from the base of the UST excavation were non-detect for
petroleum hydrocarbons.
Soil samples were collected from beneath the removed dispensers and associated piping on
April 8, 1999. During additional excavation activities unidentified fiberglass piping was
encountered. The piping was removed and soil samples were collected at the direction of Mr.
