I
Laboratory Procedures
Selected soil samples were analyzed for the presence of total petroleum hydrocarbons
calculated as gasoline (TPH-g), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX) and methyl
tertiary-butyl ether (MtBE) using EPA Methods 8015 Modified and 8020, with MtBE
confirmation using EPA Method 8260. In addition the sample corresponding with the
anticipated highest benzene concentration was analyzed for 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA),
ethylene dibromide (EDB) and total lead. Groundwater samples were analyzed for the
presence of TPH-g, BTEX, and for five oxygenates using EPA Methods 8015 Modified, 8020
and 8260, respectively.
Soil Cuttings and Purge Water
Soil cuttings generated during drilling operations were temporarily stored on site and covered
with plastic sheeting pending characterization and disposal. Soil cuttings were transported by
Manly & Son's Trucking to Forward Landfill, California. Water generated during steam
cleaning, development, and sampling of wells was temporarily stored in DOT-approved 55-
gallon drums pending transport by Gettler Ryan Inc. to the Tosca Refinery in Rodeo,
California.
i
•
911-011.1 B/Report A- 2
